Subject: System locks up in Windows 98SE

Opening WordPad locks up my system if I am rendering in Carrara 3.0.3. Anyone have this happening to them?

I would recommend not doing a single other task while C3 is rendering. It has been a long time since i have used win98, but i remember having tons of problems with that os.

I've had similar problems when I ran windows98se with Carrara. I'd suggest downloading Cacheman its free! (http://www.outertech.com/index.php?_charisma_page=product&id=2) I found it VERY much helped performance when rendering. I could actually do something other then render a scene. lol. Also make sure you defragment regularly, scandisk, and disk cleanup.

I do all kinds of other things while rendering in C3. I'm browsing the Internet, sending emails, updating web sites with FrontPage 2000. I'm updating a model in Amapi7. But WordPad refuses to run and the system hangs. I have to end its task in order to get my system back and allow C3 to continue its render. I'll try a test to see if WordPad opens if I have C3 running (but not rendering anything).
