Here's some screen captures of a detail of a column from the Alamo. There was no way the geometry could accurately be modeled in the spline modeler. Because I had already modeled this shape in Lightwave, I decided to try the same thing in Carrara 3's much- improved vertex modeler. It worked pretty much the same, building polygon-by-polygon and then setting subdivision to 2. I do wish Carrara had something comparable to Lightwave's knife tool, but other than that, no gripes.
