Entry #8

Once upon a time in a land far, far away the wicker basket teetered on the edge of a very steep slope. A sea gull flying on the gentle currents of the morning breeze caught sight of the basket just as it stop moving. Being curious she sailed closer and closer in an ever tightening circles..."hmmm!", she thought to herself, "could this be a picnic left behind? No, I guess not". SHe had more pressing matters and besides the smeel of the ocean from distant horizon called her with more important matters. The basket stopped moving for maybe two are three minutes after the great bird had headed to the ocean. Suddenly, two tiny hands appeared just under the lid of the basket and slowly raised it. The size of basket dweller was just right for the basket. I mean he was a man after all, just like you and me. He lifted himself up, resting on his forearms. It was amazing the valley before him seemed to stretch forever. There were hills, rivers, mountains, towns and all kinds of life filling his eyes and mind with a multitude of sensationsit was a somewhat scary, suddenly he turned his head and looked back into the basket; it was cozy, it was fairly predictable, it was almost secure and if he could just figure out how to stop the teetering it would be most perfect he raised himself up furhter and was now sitting on the edge of the basket, with legs dangling over the side into the morning air. What an acceleration of feelings both mental and physical rushed upon him, almost knocking back into the basket depths."I wonder...", he thought to himself and with a push jumped down from the basket edge. "That was higher than I thought...wow!", he stood on solid ground so very different than anything he had experienced beforetaking several steps he suddenly turned back to the basket and with a shock realized there was no way to get back in the basketand then I woke up in a cold sweat.
