WHEN ELEMENTS COLLIDE This image came to mind after the challenge announcement, however it proved harder to execute than I thought! The ocean is comprised of three terrains rendered in the Deep Sea preset, the land is a terrain rendered in Mordor preset texture. The sky is a preset, but I removed all cloud cover in the Sky Lab.Since I wanted the meteorite to fall through the clouds, and light up the clouds realistically,I added a volumetric cloud slab instead. The slab is rendered in a preset volumetric cloud plane, which I tweaked slightly in the material editor. Then I added four spheres rendered in a volumetric cloud material, and placed them in such a way as to allow the trail of the meteorite to fall through them. The meteorite is actually eight stones rendered in a lava stone preset, and I tweaked the settings for colour in the material editor. The fireball is composed of eight spheres rendered in a nebula volumetric, with the colour changed in the material editor, and density and edge softness also adjusted for each sphere. To add the much needed glow,I placed two yellow/orange radial lights within the spheres....one close to the falling rock, and the other within the cloud slab, which gave the cloud layer a realistic glow emenating out.The image was rendered in Normal setting and took just over an hour to render.Postwork in Photoshop consists of signature and distant waves breaking against the land mass, which I couldn't get to look right directly in Bryce. Good luck to all entrants!
