Entry #15

This story is about a plane that crashes in the middle of the Australian Outback. I hope you enjoy. Disaster Blinding wind and shocking turbulence shook the plane like a man would shake a maraca. Many passengers screamed in terror as they plummeted towards the desert below. Animals scattered and ran from this oncoming threat, seeing it as a burning invader, coming to take their habitat away from them. I yelled at the top of my lungs as I looked out the plane window that lay a few feet away from me and saw the giant Australian Outback rising to meet me. Suddenly, seatbelts snapped and before I could move aside, the passengers that sat behind me fell from their seats and plummeted towards the front of the plane, their flaying feet smacking me across the head and giving me a blinding headache. But that was just the beginning of the oncoming pain that was about to grasp me. About twelve of the passengers that sat in the rows behind me had their seatbelts snap and could not help but plummet after the two passengers that had smacked me across the head a few seconds before. I groaned in pain as these twelve could not help but shake their legs wildly too, smacking me across the head again and causing me to smash against the plane window beside me. But my problems were all but over. As the plane collided with the desert below, its front half snapped and simply disappeared from sight. My half of the plane featured a few seconds in midair before it touched down, releasing a wave of yellow sand and shrubs into the plane. Passengers screamed and screamed as the plane windows broke into a million pieces and showered the plane with sharp glass. Seatbelts snapped once again, allowing half of the surviving passengers to fall straight into the wave of sand and disappear from sight. With one painful moment, the plane performed half a somersault, ending it by smashing into the sand once again. Then silence. I was dreaming. Dreaming of home. Nothing seemed to have happened. I looked down at my body and not a single injury came to sight. I was back at my home city in the Gold Coast. I turned around to see that I was standing on my house balcony. The beach ahead was brilliant blue and the sun was shining bright. I leapt down from the balcony and raced towards the waves, but just as I was diving into the water, the scene faded and I found myself back in my seat. Screams of terror and groans of pain was all I could hear. I forced my eyes open to see the seats in front of me. I was back in the plane. Or what was left of it. Seats had been ripped apart and sand had filled the plane floor up to knee deep. I looked at the seat beside me to see an injured woman groaning in pain. I could just see a large broken glass piece sticking out of her chest. It was my wife. “ Honey…†I groaned quietly as I tried moving my arm but instead achieved a wave of pain. My wife simply turned her head to look at me. Her face was stained with blood and a large bruise was beginning to form beneath her right eye. She opened her mouth to speak, but seemed not able enough to make a single noise. I groaned loudly as I looked down to investigate what was causing the pain in my arm. I groaned even louder when I spotted the large piece of glass that was sticking out of my elbow in a painful manner. Blood was sliding down my clothes and staining my seat. My elbow was all messed up and my shoulder felt weird. As I looked down, I noticed that it had been slightly dislocated. “ Oh, god.†I groaned quietly as I used my free hand to softly pull the glass piece away from my elbow. As I did this, I felt shocking pain and couldn’t help but yell in pain. I continued to pull the glass until it slid out of my elbow. I raised the glass to eye level so I could inspect it, and groaned as I noticed it had a very sharp end. My elbow felt as though a million knives were cutting it, and my screams joined the screams of other passengers as they attempted to fix their own injuries. After a few seconds of attempting to ignore the pain, I looked down to inspect the cut in my elbow, and gasped as I noticed how deep the glass had entered. Blood was slowly oozing out of the large cut and I was definitely close to unconsciousness. But I wasn’t ready to give in just yet. I looked down at my seatbelt and saw that it had resisted all the dangers that had occurred during the crash. I unbuckled the seatbelt and climbed out of my seat with much difficulty. The pain was astonishing, and as soon as I placed my weight on my two feet, they crumbled beneath me, causing me to fall to the ground with a large thumb. Groaning and staggering, I attempted to stand back up, but soon decided that my best chances would be to lean against solid objects until I could stand properly. Everywhere I looked, my eyes met injured and dead people. Some people where crying over loved ones, while others were screaming at the top of their lungs, doing nothing to help their many painful injuries. Since my half of the plane was the back half, I could see open land ahead of me without the pilot’s cabin in the way. I slowly limped towards the opening, and was soon stepping out onto the desert of the Australian Outback. We were stranded. Word count: 966 words
