Texturing Challenge: The
Steam Plane

This challenge is all about texturing and shading. Download the
model kindly provided to us by our friends over at FrenchCinema4D.com (link to
file below) and use any technique you want to texture it: use
photos, hand-painted textures or procedural shaders, anything you
want. Unwrap it in BodyPaint or just use C4D's regular mapping
methods, it's all up to you. Your aim is to get the best looking
plane you can and you have 2 weeks to do it!
Some rules:
- The model will have some PyroCluster effects
attached to it in a Null group named Fumée -
delete that group
from the file! (This is to make the challenge more balanced for
those that don't have PyroCluster)
- Do not alter the shape of the geometry or add
any extra geometry to the model - the model should only have a
paintjob, nothing else (you are however free to increase/decrease
subdivision of HyperNURBS and even deactive them if needed)
- All geometry can be made editable for texturing purposes if
needed
- Bump and displacement mapping is allowed
- You are free to replace the current lighting setup
- GI/Radiosity is allowed
- You are free to build a suitable environment for the plane (a
studio setup, a hangar or flying in the air, all is good)
- Submit your final render as a composite of 4
images: 1 main image and 3 smaller images showing the
model from 3 different angles, like this:
|

- The final composite must contain 1 render from
the existing Camera already present in the file
(it can be one of the smaller renders)
- If for some reason you don't have an existing camera in your
file, try to match the perspective seen in the image above as
closely as you can
- Maximum size for the whole composite is 1024 x
1024
- Upload the final composite here on this contest page and in
the announcement thread in the Cinema 4D forum
- More than one entry is allowed
- Post-processing in a 2D application is allowed but keep it to a
minimum
- The winner must provide the Cinema 4D-file for download
- The challenge will start on December 3 and
will close on December 17, at 16:00 CST (GMT -6),
also known as Renderosity time (you can see Renderosity time at the
top of this page) but we will be pretty flexible with the deadline
:)
Download: The model is created by
Ggamer4d and can be downloaded from
FrenchCinema4D.com.
After the workshop we will have a public vote to select who did
the best/most original job.
Have fun and don't forget to use the
Cinema 4D forum if you need any help!
The model belongs to Ggamer4D and cannot be used
for commercial purposes.
