August 2012 Artist of the Month - Jaykayyorks

Who is 'Jaykayyorks' ?

I'm 40 years old, mother of 4 and have been taking pictures for the last 5 years. I started with a fuji 9600 bridge camera and I now shoot with a Nikon D700. I took the plunge 18 months ago, and now I am a full-time photographer.

I have no formal qualifications for photography, I am self taught.

What software do you use and why?

I use Photoshop CS3 for my editing, as I can't seem to get on with CS4 or 5 and as the saying goes if it isnt broken don't fix it :-)

Who, or what, inspires you?

I am inspired more by the world around me than other artists, although I do like looking at others' work - that inspires me to try harder.

What do you enjoy most about Photography?

The most enjoyable part of photography for me is capturing that one second that will never be there again, building memories for others to look at.

Do you have any tips youÂ would be willing toÂ share on shooting?

The only tips I can give, really, are always listen to cc that is given to you, noone knows it all and we are always learning, so don't be too precious about your work and listen to others. Shoot what you enjoy, it shows in your work. Never be scared to step out of your comfort zone, as you might enjoy it and always push yourself to do more.

How has this online community (Renderosity) enhanced your work, relationships, and learning?

Being part of this community has encouraged me to shoot more, so I have more to share. I have listened to cc when given and have appreciated all comments and views.

Do you have any parting comments, or advice for other artists?

Thank you to everyone who has voted for me and has taken the time to look at my work, it's very much appreciated.
