April 2007 Artist of the Month - Kidicarux
March 27, 2007 7:23 pm
Who is 'Kidicarux'? Despite the name that I picked, my real name is Jacques Pena. Digital Artist working in Boston, Ma. How long have you been rendering/doing computer graphics? I've been doing digital art, seriously, since 1996 all through high school and college.
Do you have traditional art experience? Besides digital art, I am a traditional painter and illustrator. Nothing beats a canvas and brush. Traditional art made digital art possible for me. What are you currently working on? Right now I'm working on a few new images based on actual people that I know. Basically they're portraits portrayed with much symbolism and fantasy. The next image is based on one of my fellow employees here at Neoscape who is a Project Manager, her name is Amanda Coggin Budd. The idea is based on a sci-fi theme of a lonely girl with too much technology on her hands...literally. Along with that I'm creating a digital flip book based on the project on my website. I will be using C4D 10 and Mudbox 1.0. I will be posting it when I'm done on renderosity.
Tricky question, at home I am strictly Maxon Cinema 4d 10. Along with that I use Mudbox, Illustrator, and Photoshop. Now at work, it's 3dstudio Max. Now why I use Cinema 4d 10? Back in highschool, it was the first of many programs I actually liked. Although 3d studio Max was there, Cinema 4d felt more interesting and fun to work with. When I began college I used it for graphics, and from there, it stayed with me forever. Cinema 4d has the tools to productively plan, create and render. Especially when it comes to poly modeling characters, fast and fast. What do you think your best piece of work is and why? That is a tough question when asked. I care more about what people say, and I have gotten alot saying from one of my images titled "The Dance"(As Shown in my Gallery). Despite having a life on it's own, I worked with one of the best architectural artists in the Industry, Nensi Karanxha. Nensi was the inspiration behind the character herself, and helped me artistically to create something one step beyond the imagination. Why do you like to work with 3D software? I am a game freak. So alot has to do with that. Who/what inspires you? Many artists. But my heart is more inspired by the works of Louis Royo, Yoshitaka Amano, Geof Darrow, Renji Murata, Massimiliano Frezzato, and Tetsuya Nomura. How has this online community (Renderosity) enhanced your work, relationships, and learning? I love Renderosity because of the people. People help make my art actually work. Thats why I give credit to those who give comments and to those who become inspired by my work. Parting Comments / Advice to other Artists? I will leave with this parting piece of advice..may not work for some but it has worked for me. Imagination is the greatest thing in the world...so keep imagining. Just don't do it during final semester of college...trust me. Please have a further look at Kidicarux's Gallery! Be sure to visit the Renderosity Cinema 4D Gallery, and also pay a visit to the Renderosity Cinema 4D Forum! copied, printed, or reproduced in any manner without written permission from the artist. Artist of
the Month is highlighting a talented Renderosity artist that has
been nominated by mods and admins, and voted by the community.
Recognition is given to this member for their collection of works
for that year.
Since we
only select one AOM per month, it is not about their works for that
particular month. Instead, it is about highlighting a talented
artist's works for that year, and they are recognized during that
month.
