Artist of the Month is highlighting a talented Renderosity artist that has been nominated by coords, mods, and admins and voted by the community. Recognition is given to this member for their collection of works for that year. Since we only select one AOM per month, it is not about their works for that particular month. Instead, it is about highlighting a talented artist's works for that year and they are recognized during that month. Click on 'AOM 2005' to learn more about the Artist of the Month at Renderosity.

Hi Gzaviez, I agree with you, there are many wonderful artist this month in three outstanding CG art galleries. Making voting more difficult, but alas, it is true, you can only cast one vote. Thank you for taking the time to view the galleries and to place your vote. Dee-Marie

I personally don't think you can compare art from, for example, mojoworld (or terragen, etc), with art from Lightwave (or Maya, 3D Studio Max, etc). These two types of softwares are used for different purposes (yes, you can use Lightwave to create nature/landscape etc., but if you look at the lightwave gallery the main use tends to be different). Being a Maya user, I automatically jumped to Lightwave nominees. Not because I don't find Mojoworld/ArtMatic art great but simply because Lightwave is more familiar to me as far as the creation process. Having to pick between nature/landscape and 3D modeling I will usually go with 3D modeling simply because that's my interest. If my only options were landscapes then I can objectively compare different images because they represent the same type of art. I had trouble deciding on sms or esclece. The other artists are great too but these two caught my attention right away. Both of them create amazing images BUT from two different categories. One is fantasy/sci-fi the other one more of a realism/architecture/visualization. As far as modeling, esclece's models seem to be more advanced BUT not necessarily because he/she has better modeling skills than sms. It is simply because of the nature of the models. As far as lighting, I like sms' work better. The same issue is with textures. Both are excellent, but I would go with sms because they are more realistic (but then again who can say how a skin on a fantasy creature should look like). So my points are: I think it would be better if the artists were further broken down by categories (fantasy, realism, nature). Also, instead of putting 2 completely different types of programs (Mojoworld/ArtMatic vs Lightwave) put artists that use the same software or at least similar ones (for example, Mojoworld vs Terragen vs ArtMatic and Lightwave vs 3D Studio Max vs Maya). In essence, the nominees should represent similar area of DCC...

I have to agree with viaCreations that Lightwave might have been better over with 3dsm and maya, but, svenarts gallery seems to fit in well with the mojo and artmatic galleries here. It's a stiff competition, I've been a regular visitor to almost all of the galleries featured and they are all very commendable artists leaving this being difficult to choose in the extreme.

Well, I could choose although the types of art are really different. I think AOM should describe some "quality" of work rather than interesting topic. I know if I prefer smsinteriors or, say, eonites landscapes and I can decide, for example, that I like a given visualization more than a given landscape, although I prefer, say, Nature from artificial things. But viaCreations is right, it would be really easier for many people to rank a knight against another knight instead of a knight against a mountain:)

I also have to agree with viaCreations. It's very difficult to compare the 2 groups now. 3d modelling against nature landscape,It would be better to put all the 3d modellingnature landscapes, use of fractal, use of poser, etc etc in one group or as suggested by via Creation selected by theme, fanatsy, nature, realism, etc, etc. That should make it better to choose one. Anyway...the galleries are beautiful and good luck to all the nominees.

I'm a tried-and-true Brycer myself, so I sort of went for the Lightwave like viaCreations. Sorry Mojoworld fans, it's a great program and I'm these guys are REALLY freakin' good with it, but the Lightwave renders look more detailed and professional, since they have a broader range available to them. I think that (and I'm going to get reemed for this I know) Mojoworld should be grouped in with programs like Terragen rather than Lightwave. Landscape Programs with Landscape Programs, regular multi-purpose renderers with others of their kind I say. Still a good presentation by all involved.

3d modelling against nature landscape... Landscapers vote for landscapers, 3d users vote for 3d artists... There is more 3d users here that of landscapers, why invite us to an useless vote?

Thank you all so much for your valuable feedback and insight. We will definitely take your input into consideration when setting up the gallery groupings for next years AOM nominations :] With only 12 months available per year, we tried to group these galleries together as best we could, to make sure that all the active gallery artists had a chance to be considered for nomination and participation in the voting. We will continue to try and improve upon the gallery groupings as per the your suggestions. Thanks so much. The Renderosity Staff

Tough call here, for me, between Esclece, sms and Svenart... Dunno!

I agree -- to compare 3D to landscapes -- there is NO comparision. I think I'll just sit this month out.....

i really like all I saw in the, congrats to all, but Svenart is my fav... Vote from me:-)

deemarie: only 12 months available in a year should not be a problem. Simply speak about Artists of the Month (please note the plural of artists). In this case you could simply say that in this month we will select the best Mojo artist and the best Lightwave artist. It won't hurt any of them and both will appreciate the victory among people with the same interest.

Hi Everyone, Thank you all so much for your input, and more importantly, thank you for taking the time to vote, and for your continued support of the Renderosity Artists. As to trying to vote for a specific artist, we fully understand how difficult it can be, especially when having to pick only one artist from so many outstanding ones :] Each month, no matter what the software category may be, there will always be gallery images that differ in style and content. For example, last months AOM were artists from the mixed media gallery. The artists works differed greatly from one another; nature scenes, abstract art, portraits, and architectural images. In August, we will be asking you to pick an AOM from the Photography gallery, and although I have no idea who will be nominated, I am sure that there will be the same wide array of subject matter to choose from. We do appreciate everyones comments and we will be sure to take your input into consideration when setting up next years AOM nomination voting procedures. Thank you once again for you continued support of the Renderosity artists. Sincerely, Dee-Marie
