The Secret behind the Best Sellers

This New York Times' Best Selling Author is an avid Renderosity fan!

(Tracy and Laura Hickman - Dragon*Con 2004)

Married for 26 years, Laura and Tracy Hickman are big Sci-Fi fans, which comes as no surprise. They both enjoy writing and adventure games and have been publishing game designs and stories together for over twenty-five years. These creations include Dragonlance and the Oasis of the White Palm series as well as 'Pharaoh' and the original 'Ravenloft.'

They are now working on a new joint project: The Bronze Canticles.

What did come as a surprise was what Tracy had to say: "We are both very visual people and like to see the world and characters we write about. We make heavy use of Poser, Bryce and Strata to create the characters in the novels. I am an avid Renderosity fan! We frequently use Renderosity products to save time and to help me visualize our new worlds -- particularly the worlds of the Bronze Canticles series."

"Once we have our characters rendered, we print the images on glossy photo-stock which gives them vibrancy and brings the characters to life. We hang these all over the walls and make constant use of these references while writing to maintain consistency of vision.

Tracy also co-authors with Margret Weis, a friend of over twenty years, that began with their Dragonlance novel: "Dragons of Autumn Twilight." They worked on many of the Dragonlance novels including the original Dragonlance Chronicles, Dragonlance Legends, Rose of the Prophet and Darksword trilogies as well as the seven-book Deathgate Cycle.

He-He.... I had the luck of meeting Tracy and Margaret at Gencon several times. I have some signed literature from them as well. And now I find that Tracy frequents simular websites. I just wanted to take this oppotunity to say thanks for all the great memories, because I'm sure you'll be reading this.

Waves enthusiastically to Tracy, Laura and Margret That is so cool that you guys shop here!!! What an excellent idea to visualize your characters with poser! Deathgate was EXCELLENT!! I first heard of you guys when my husband gave me a copy of Autumn Twilight years ago. I think I went through that whole first series in about a week (curse that need for sleeping and eating!). Hey, foleypro: I think the Kender went this way, because I seem to be missing a few things... ;-) -Heidi

Great to know you come here! I remember going to school dressed up like Raistlin and my friend would be Caramon (it was dress up like your favorite hero day), such great memories and wonderful books! My DM would never let me play a kender though, the one time he did i found a jewel encrusted skull, picked it up and got disentigrated (darn demilich's shouldn't leave their heads laying around like that)That kender lasted all of 5 minutes LOL Look forward to reading many more!
