Rats... Now that Christmas is here, I've finally come up with a good response for Gekky on my comic. Panel 4: Cammy: "A word of advice before he wakes up... you might want to start running." Gekky: "Is it just me, or do Canadians have the COOLEST holidays?"

I thought Boxing Day was a British thing, but, according to Wikipedia, it exists in the Commonwealth (which makes sense) and elsewhere in Europe. The Canadian version seems to involve shopping, so I'm surprised that hasn't caught on here in the US. However, Wikipedia claims that one possible origin for Boxing Day was, well, drunken people boxing, thus making you comic funny and historically accurate. (With the caveat "Wikipedia claims" of course.)

Hi Anna, Cool idea! I only found out what Boxing Day was last night. It's not just in Canada.

Anna, I haven't witnessed any actual boxing on Boxing Day, but it probably happens... :o) Boxing Day is an official holiday here and elesewhere in the British Commonwealth as was mentioned earlier. * (enigma-man) Den Tracy is a proud Canadian *

Switching from Boxing Day to Blatant Self-Promotion, I just posted in the main galleries (under DAZ Studio 'n' Humor) the Extended Version of this week's Non-Canonical. I had to slightly shorten Dr. Linstrom's description in the version on this page in order to fit 6 panels. However in the Extended, Director's Cut version I have the whole speech! Okay, it was only one panel longer, forcing me to make a double panel filler showing the "Bad Movie Line Players" but...well, it's Extended! Never Before Seen Scenes! The longer version is just like a DVD extra except that it isn't video...

Just for anyone who does't 'actually' know ... Boxing day comes from when they used to BOX the leftover Christmas food to distribute to the poor. I still prefer the Echos version ... there's usually a 'few' people ya'd like ta box after Christmas. :-) Enjoyed all the toons, too, by the way.
