Complex it is, the life of one Silver Squirrel. Recovering from recent trials, including loss of home and loved ones, and a frightful encounter with the deadly hawk, life goes on for Silver. Challenging the natural order as he retains his interest in birds, always seeming to get himself in the thick of everything, and still not quite fitting in with the squirrel community. It is Daniel Ritchie's second book, "Silver Squirrel in Uneasy Pieces," that continues the adventures of such a squirrel. The title alone very well conveys the heart of the story within. Silver finds himself at an uneasy place in his life. He is still learning his place within the community, and learning his place with his mate Sandy. It's just not easy being Silver. Along with the familiar characters of the first book, "Silver Squirrel", there are new ones introduced. The dialogue between the characters is engaging, and often very humorous, as in the case where we see Silver coming to the realization of his age while working alongside juveniles. The book climaxes with a conflict between the squirrels and the birds, with Silver, of course, smack dab in the middle of it. Daniel knows how to weave a story and really draw the reader into it. I found this book every bit as enjoyable as the first. Aside from the compelling adventures of Silver, there is plenty of take-home values about growing up and fitting in, applicable to everyone. I would highly recommend this book, as well as the first, for readers ages 12 and up. Order your copy today: For more information on Silver Squirrel, visit the official website! Visit Dan Ritchie's Renderosity Store! About the author Dan Ritchie is a professional computer graphics animator and FX (effects) artist. He studied commercial art in Florida before moving to California to work on animated films. This led to shows such as Starship Troopers Chronicles and Star Trek Voyager. He has also been a graphics programmer for over 15 years, with his latest project being a natural media painting application called Project Dogwaffle which is rapidly gaining popularity. Silver Squirrel began in 1992 as an idea for a short animated film. The story for the film progressed faster than the animation could be created, and what started as a 2-minute short turned into a draft for a 40-episode series. 13 episodes were then polished into the present novel format. Currently, Ritchie works as programmer and effects animator. Nick's
