Renderosity's 2D Forum Welcomes All 2D Artists

Jan 19, 2009 at 02:22 am by Store Staff

Renderosity's long-standing 2D Graphics Forum boasts some exciting changes recently to their Sub-Community page that not only benefit it's current forum participants, but should do well to encourage others to join in the fun, regardless of media: digital or traditional. In speaking with Renderosity's 2D Forum Coordinator, Suzanne Burgos (ARTWITHIN), she revealed the latest additions to the 2D Forum's Sub-Community page, as well as a change for the forum's monthly themed challenge.

You'll find that the 2D Forum's Sub-Community page is chock full of links of interest, recent forum discussion topics, and featured tutorials for the 2D artist, as well as info on current challenges. You are also greeted by plenty of featured artwork culled directly from the 2D Gallery, with image thumbs rotated with each page refresh.

New offerings on featured artwork on the 2D Community page are the 2D Forum Artist of the Week, and the 2D Gallery Artist of the Week. According to Suzanne: "We wanted to recognize the artists that participate regularly in the forum, as well as those who don't. By viewing the featured artists on the 2D Graphics Sub-Community page each week, it is a fast way to zero in on some great work, since the sorting has already been done for the viewers."

The 2D Forum Sub-Community page also now lists the monthly themes for the entire year of 2009:

"The 2D Graphics Forum has a Monthly Theme that enables an artist to express their vision of the theme and share that with others. Participation in the Monthly Theme is open to the entire 2D community on Renderosity for digital artists, illustrators, and painters who use natural media, such as watercolor, acrylic and oil paints.

Natural media often requires more time than a month to produce a work, especially since everyone has busy lives with many responsibilities and concerns. For these reasons, the 2D Graphics Forum is now publishing the themes for each month of 2009 in it’s entirety. This will give the artists an opportunity to participate in the theme they are interested in and start creating it in time for submission in the month of the theme.

This is not a contest, or a challenge, except to oneself. It is an opportunity to create in a specific theme and to share it and something about your process with others in the 2D Forum. Well, maybe waiting until the month of the theme to upload your work to your gallery will be a challenge.

If anyone has any questions or needs help with the procedure, they can contact me via my site-mail."

As for the initial reason behind this change, Suzanne states: "I recently discovered we have some fantastic 2D natural media artists on Renderosity, and I would like to invite them, encourage them, to participate in the 2D Forum Monthly Theme. The 2D Forum is for them as well as 2D digital artists. It would be wonderful if we could interest more of them to participate. We have digital and natural media artists in the forum now, and expansion is always welcome."

This month's 2D Forum Challenge theme is "Emotions":

"December brought some strong emotions with the passing of one beloved parent, two beloved pets, and a couple of people recovering from falls with injuries. There's some serious economic difficulties that could effect everyone in 2009 in ways we may not be able to perceive at the moment. The insecurity of an unstable economy can create strong emotions. I think we made a good choice for the January theme, a way to express our emotions and release a healing power in our lives through our art." More info...

Also, there is the Monthly Metamorphosis Challenge, with this month using Suzanne's Abstract Snow Background:

"Each month we use a predetermined 2D background image and each artist creates a new complete 2D image. The object is to add to, change, modify, or manipulate the background. There are no limits on how the background can be used, as long as it stays within the Renderosity TOS." More info...

If you are a 2D artist, whether working digitally or with traditional media, Renderosity's 2D Forum has plenty to offer. Drop in for some great discussions, exciting challenges, and general good company. Don't hesitate to post questions in the forum or contact any of the members of Renderosity's 2D Forum Team for help or more info.
