Presenting the 2008 MarketPlace Award Winners
January 6, 2009 1:12 pm
2008 is in the books, and we are celebrating another year of quality and professionalism throughout the community. Starting last year, we began awarding top performers in the Renderosity MarketPlace in addition to the Vendor of the Year award we have given away for some time. With 2009 upon us, it is time once again to recognize those who rose above their peers to the top of their respective categories.
Any vendor is eligible to win, new and old. Each award is explained in full to give an idea of what it takes to be included for the yearly awards. Vendors cannot win in multiple categories in the same year. We congratulate the winners, and look forward to an exciting 2009!
And now, in no particular order, the winners:
Vendor with the highest sales for 2008. It's no secret: give people what they want, and they will always come back for more. The Vendor of the Year continually provides a multitude of products that are almost always in want by the digital art community. Aery_Soul wins their fourth consecutive Vendor of the Year title with another fantastic year in 2008.

Vendor with the highest number of units sold for 2008. Outoftouch knows how to consistently offer products that are popular throughout the 3D community. This is his second year of winning this award - proof that he is offering exactly what customers are looking for within the MarketPlace: Quality product from a professional vendor.

Vendor who started in 2008 with the highest revenue. We always welcome new faces to the MarketPlace, but it can be tough to become quickly successful in such a large market of professional vendors providing top quality products. Countess displayed her talent for creating quality content immediately, and we are proud to have her start up and immediately begin offering popular products in the MarketPlace.

Individual item with the highest revenue for 2008. Creating a product that is both high quality AND in high demand can be tricky. Renderosity vendor Blackhearted is a master at this craft. It takes a lot of hard work and a knack for knowing what the masses want, and he has an uncanny ability for anticipating the needs of the marketplace. We believe that the products in our MarketPlace not only reflect back on vendors such as Blackhearted, but on Renderosity as well. The MVP is a shining example of the quality content you will find in our MarketPlace.
|Winner: The Girl Next Door

Again we would like to congratulate these four on an award winning 2008. Interviews from all of these vendors will be making their way to the Renderosity front page over the next few weeks, so check back to learn a little more about each of these success stories!
Each winner is not eligible to win in another category for the same year.
I saw this and initially thought "so what", "who cares" & "so Renderosity get MORE revenue"; then I actually read the nominations and analysed what they meant, and in fact they made me realise that I had seriously missed the point; I have just bought GND4, and own almost everything Aery Soul have ever released. The point which I had overlooked was that this award is a celebration of how we, as individual Renderosity members, choose to express ourselves, and not how much revenue the vendors generate - not a concept I had previously considered. Well done indeed to everyone nominated. I have been interested in fantasy art since Christmas 1977, when my brother bought me a Ballantyne book of Frazetta's work. I would like to go on record as saying that Aery Soul have, for me at least, allowed me to tap into the richest vein of fantasy inspiration and capability I have known since then. There; the secret's out.
Once again AS is on top... what's this make 3 or 4 years in a row now?! Wow you two make GREAT stuff... I gotta remember to actually BUY something instead of just wishing for it :D Congratulations to all the winners. Now can I start begging for more free stuff from you or should I wait until your knocked a few back? :0)
