What!!! A hole lane empty and no one uses it to get ahead of the line. Unthinkable here. Some time ago they put traffic lights in our town center to slow down traffic. It works, now they stand still for more than mile.

I believe there is an arrow in that empty lane requiring traffic to stay out of it. I'll have to return to the site to find out what that is all about.

Great shot of one of the reasons I'm glad I left Southern California.

Ugh! I'm sooo glad I don't have to deal with this twice a day migration any more! Very cool shot!

I used to walk around and take photos downtown. I got tired of the police always stopping me and ask why I'm taking pictures.

I loved this shot when you posted it. It's hard to say "love" about such a concrete, gray sight so familiar to all urban residents. But the lines are pure, the grayness gives it even more pureness, because of the way it mutes all strong hues. The simplicity of the concrete adds to the purity of it. And it's such an evocation of urban traffic, it's almost eerie. The perspective lines are deep, and that swath of deep orange (on the left) is the pièce de resistance....plus you have street lights in the back--- I mean yellow lights atop poles, I assume, which add an unexpected yellow to this long concrete and steel image. And the cars are lit up too, which brings home how sultry the day was (ie, because it required people turning on lights at that hour of the morning). Love this shot.
