Bruce this one's for you. Sorry it is not an insect, but it is just a sample of the critters I told you about that we get where I live. Locally, it is known as a "songololo" and they live on dead plant matter. This one was about 22cm long and there are dozens in the garden. When disturbed they curl up into coils until the danger is past. They very often come into the house and are even found up trees. The light from the auto-focus made him turn around, so I quickly had to change positions- with that many legs you can move rather quickly. I have more to follow soon...
