Description

The last piece of information she'd bought had paid off big time! He was just sitting in the harbor on his yacht. She'd moved quickly. She had raced down to her secure harborside warehouse and thrown her diving gear on. She gathered up her "acquired" surplus limpet mine that had been most likely made during the last Central American conflict of '17, and then jumped aboard her open topped mini-sub. She navigated to a point about 100 meters from the yacht, put the sub in station keeping mode, and swam the remaining distance to the yacht, never breaching the surface once. Thankfully, Jax had taken care of her re-breather and it was working flawlessly. No bubbles, to troubles. She smiled as she gently placed the mine just below the water line on the port forward side, under the large windows, she knew was his private salon. Even under water she could feel and hear the thumping music coming through the hull. Security was always lax when he was having that kind of party. She swam back to the sub, slowly surfaced to make sure that her remote detonator wouldn't have any problems reaching the receiver. She turned on her cyber optic recording function, confirmed it was recording and was nice and clear. She flipped up the safety toggle and depressed the button. The blast was bright and it threw up a hell of a lot of spray, smoke and debris. The sound, like a very loud, quick thunderclap, travelled quickly across the water and she could see the wake moving towards her. She paused only for a second to make sure the hole was big enough to sink the yacht. He most likely got bounced off the bulkhead, she smiled to herself, when the charge went off. She was glad she had paid that tech the extra 500 euros to "heighten" the explosives power factor. When in doubt, E for extra. She slipped under the surface, quickly found her sub, right where she had left it, and headed back towards her warehouse. Time to get paid! She thought to herself.

The scuba that she is using, from what I see above the water, looks to me like an old-type open-circuit twin-hose air scuba, not a rebreather: see twin-hose air scuba . The object on her back looks like a big air cylinder, not a rebreather in a casing . (I can understand the confusion in these modern times when twin-hose aqualungs are not used much.)

Postscript :: Thanks. I read someone saying that to modern eyes an old aqualung's twin wide breathing tubes make it look somewhat like a rebreather.

You are correct, it is a regular twin hose reg on an Aqualung tank. For the story, which is based in a cyberpunk future, she likes vintage diving gear so she had her techie friend, create a special system that would look like the twin hose, but would not release bubbles, thus similar to a re-breather function. I have a rebuilt twin hose reg, that I hope to dive with soon. Glad you notice the details, hopefully you liked the story and the image. Thanks for the look and the comment. Have a great afternoon. :)
