Brunna isn't quiet that naive. She continues to try to contact the Empress or now the Syntari to stop Nykita. Nykita smiles as she walks off from the discussion. Stating this is ridiculous, but her survey team is headed for the unowned coalfield. Ah, but Flor Madera has just claimed the stake for a new company in Valk as a speculation. The claim is valid, how did Flor know? What part is she going to play in the railroad game she is just a bar tender at a small bar in Valk, her stake covers 50 percent of the coal field, the best part of it, and the maximum a citizen could claim as property. Another claim is made by Alisa Breeze for a stake, hers covers 25 percent of the existing unowned land over the coal field but her stake is as big as Flor's, they both put their stakes in for ranching. But it gives them control over the minerals underneath the soil. Unknown to Alisa there is oil under her claim next to the coalfield. The only catch is, they will both have to move there in 30 days or loose their claim stakes.
