Description

Still working on this one. I made the studio in Blender (based on someone else's design). I did this for two reasons. The original didn't give me the exact options and control I wanted. Also, I learn something best when I have a concrete project. This was my first attempt at anything architectural in Blender. Actually, Sketchup would have been orders of magnitude faster. Truly a superior GUI for architecture based 3d. And I do have a plugin for that that does OBJ export. But I was stubborn about this. I normally use Hexagon but what I really needed was control over the UVMapping. Something I've never done in Blender, Something that's not very good in Hexagon, and essentially non-existent in Sketchup. Thus, Blender. And I did learn a lot. I'm a lot more comfortable with basic modeling and waaay more comfy with UVmapping in Blender. So a win! I didn't do so well at the texturing in Poser. The node's are still confusing to me. But I did read a lot of BB node stuff that helped. I still find Superfly and Poser nodes to be obtuse and overly complex just to get results not quite as good as reality/lux would do with very few clicks, and less render time. I know that it produces good results with expert hands. but reality/lux is like Sketchup. It just does the right thing without having to be a programmer to do it. This is 2 La Femme based figures. The elder sister is a blend of Mayu morph and my Erin, with Mayu's texture. The younger sister is my younger Alexa with La Femme's default texture. Both are LF Pro 1.1 My leotard and a dysnamic dress I made. The balletflats are ported from V4 using the fitting room. Deadbunny. dejavu hair (latest) and paradise hair with superfly mats). A few Fink trees within EZdome outside. Just that for lighting, with a sun (using snarly's script). Two catch spots (in the wrong placement) to lightup the faces. Rendered on an iMac Pro using CPUs in about 10 minutes. Poser was already getting slow with this scene. I could do better. Smarter people, feel free to offer advice on any aspects that might be improved. This is actually a recreation of a test piece I did for reality, years ago. I built nearly everything in the scene from scratch in blender to replace the stuff from before. The figures are La Femme rather than v4. Although it looks a lot like the original, he only thing in the scene I used again is the bunny :D I'm happy with it since I liked the way it turned out (secondary goal) AND I learned a lot I needed to learn in Blender (along with a lot of frustration. 2.8... As nice as it is, OMG, obtuse GUI compared to something like Sketchup. But wow, it's performance is amazing. So fast I often thought it wasn't doing anything. The "undo" never let me down. And it never crashed, once. Meanwhile, poser crashed about a dozen times. Always when deleting a light. It's been doing that for years. Thought they fixed it. And when it gets slow, which this scene did on a 36 core machine, with 128GB of RAM and a graphics card that could blow a building into the harbour, the mouse lag would make it so that I would let go of the button, move the mouse, and it would still be dragging the actor. And don't get me started with what would happen when using the morph tool under those conditions. I don't understand the issue. I looked at the PZ file in sublime (only thing that can handle text files that big and still be fast). The file was clean. No cruft. morphs are in binary file. Just not the greatest program when it comes to complex scenes, I guess.

a lot of work to get what you want, but I think it's proved worth it judging by the results; the scene is delightful and the subtle lighting appearing to come in from the window works very well indeed, as does the reflection in the mirror. The poses too are an interesting vignette in themselves. The only thing I would be tempted to try would be another PoV with perhaps more focus on the figures, but that really boils down to what you want to show. Excellent work and render.

I think you're spot-on about the PoV.

I did want to show off the room, but one should never let what one wants get in the way of better art :D

I need to study photography more to improve my imagery. Even a simple trivial scene can change completely by changing nothing more than the framing. Youtube, here I come!

thank you ^.^

La Femme is pretty flexible and with not too much morphing, comes across well as a youthful character. I find the working body-part scales really help; her clothing just follows the scales :D

I have a question about the shadows. In the corner, there's dark on one wall while the one 90ยบ from it is light. Why? Something to do with normals????

I honestly adore how much love you're giving Mayu ๐Ÿ˜„

This one looks so fun! Those girls are really having a sister moment.

Mayu is the character I was waiting for from when I first loaded La Femme. You teased her (seeming) ages ago and I waited patiently for her to pass your (clearly) perfectionist muster. Happily, she's everything I hoped for, worthy of the wait and much love :)

Mayu adds "happy" to La Femme who had already inspired me to pick up Poser again. Then the coincidence with Blender's 2.8 and now I'm having fun with CGI again. That interest had died. Oddly, right after I got back from SIGRAPH 2018. Somehow, that conference had made it all seem... so big... hopeless? No, not that. Joyless. Like a business where only huge budgets and top talents could play. La Femme brought back the joy of hobby art. Mayu, added sweet icing :)

Thank you for that!

Beautiful scene. I like both characters and their poses.
