Description

Ultrafractal with minor levels and sharpness adjustments in Photoshop I have a love/hate relationship with these butterfly images. It's too easy to find something wrong in a UF image of something real, and usually I find it after I've posted it, or someone else does, so I delete it. None the less, I enjoy creating an occasional bit of reality with UF even if it does look not quite right. Thanks for letting me know what you think. Keith

Well, I like this image. And even if the butterfly is not 'realistic=like a photograph', doesn't make it any less beautiful and artistic. A lovely abstract garden scene is what I see.

I don't know much about what's involved in creating a Fractal. But I do know that this is Beautiful in my eyes!

Keith, I see nothing wrong with this at all. It is simply lovely. Wonderful butterfly, beautiful colors. What a lovely vision.

It's a fractal butterfly, so it's just what I expect to see. Looks very real and beautiful. Wouldn't change a thing. The background and plant life is a great setting for this beauty.

I'm entranced by this image, Keith. I think you did such a great job of layering and composing, and- as usual, I love the way you use light and color. Beautiful work!

This is so so pretty. The flutterby is beautiful and exotic. The plant she is sipping nectar from reminds me of wild clematis in the autumn in this country Its "folky" name in England is "Travellers Joy". and this picture is a joy to look at

Wonderful butterfly scene, Keith - great art is not always realistic - it's the feeling one gets when taking it in. I always get a serene feel from your images - and look forward to every one of them that you post for us. Thank you.

The nicest of your butterflies IMO. The balance between figure and background is good and the colors give the butterfly the prominence it deserves, and the "flowers" the secondary prominence they deserve. The dark band in the background creates a horizon and the figures behind add depth without distracting. Definitely a keeper...

Even after looking at the UPR you posted for the last butterfly, I still have no idea how to go about doing things like this. I can't see anything wrong with this that 10 minutes post-work won't cure. Even without it is still an excellent image.

V It looks magical, Keith, and that should cover any unreal parts people might find. It's not like you're going for hyper-realism, so ... I love it, it has a most pleasant atmosphere, makes me sit and just enjoy this scene. Thanks!!

Excellent flutterby and a wonderful image, Keith! Actually, I don't think that the point of "real" images made with fractals is to be "photo-realistic", per-se. I think they are done in a medium that has its own look and appeal and cannot be duplicated by any other means like watercolors or paint - which do strive to imitate life. To me, they are more like the cool black-lite posters we used to have or like computer generated video game graphics because of the luminosity of the colors when viewed on a monitor and the latent psychedelic vibe. I'd have been proud to hang this "poster" under my black-lite in the 70's! (stop beating yourself up for these images, man, they're COOL - if ya want to be "Van Gogh", get some brushes and canvas. I say just be "Deagol" and keep rockin' our socks of with this great stuff!)

I like the mood this image has, with the different lighting of the blue background. Your butterfly is superb, i really do like that. A very realistic shape, with most beautiful colouring on the wings, i like the smudgy look of that and how the light appears to be shining through it. Very nice work.
