Description

Shot Monday, Feb 27, 2006. The goal was to recreate World War 2 era (1940s) pin-ups and Military Aircraft nose-art of the time as best as possible with limited resources. The shoot was shot with a High Key backlight and purposly trying to make the models look more washed out for an artistic painted mimic. Turned out very well! Model is Elizabeth Ashley. Great great model, she's one of the best I've ever worked with. Fantastic ideas and a pleasure to photograph! The goal with this one was to mimic the more Hawaiian themed 40's pin-ups. They were often used over in the Pacific Theater of the war on aircraft such as the P-51D Mustang, B-29 Superfortress, B-25 Mitchell, and more. Taken with a Canon Rebel EOS 5D (12mp) and Canon 28-105mm USM lens. Shot at a studio where I work in Anaheim, CA.

Elizabeth Ashley is the ideal 1940s model -- she's got the right body, the pose and the poise! The two of you seem to work exceedingly well together. Another excellent essay in the vintage pinup genre! My Vote
