Description

Hello dear friends:) Wish you all a wonderful week ahead, with health and plenty of creativity! I have not been here, as I wanted. It was not possible…anyway, I see your art, i 'promenade' in your galleries and you may be sure ! You gave me lots of joy and fresh breath! The wonders that i see from YOU, give me incentive and give me positive energy too! Thank you very much ! This is a block of granite that i brought from the road and i begun carving a face by hand, with sisel and hammer, years back. I love hard stones! She was waiting in the backyard of my home to be finished someday….but past days, i decided to clean this face, as a first step to continue. And I will. I decided to show you, as a promise to myself that i will finish it. I like it like it is, anyway:), but I ‘feel’ that there is still much to ‘come out’ from inside this block and I hope that I am still strong enough, lol, granite is hard to work only with hands; but it is the way i enjoy to do that.. and sculpture is ‘my thing’, still very deep inside myself:) Thank you very much for being here with me… and SPRING is already around…enjoy all ! ana

Ana, first of all allow me to say that you made my day by posting once more. I am so impressed with the way this sculpture is shaping up so far, and hope you will share more photos of the face continues to come forth. One can hardly imagine the time involved working with the hard granite stone, as this truly is a labor of love.

It's always wonderful to see you here again, Ana. And it's equally wonderful to see a sculpture from you!!! I can tell, from your drawings and paintings, that you have a deep feel for three-dimensional art, for art made of solid earth. This face seems an apparition, something from another world, who's slowly emerging into our world through the stone. I know that's in part because the sculpture isn't finished: But the shapes of the lips and eyes feel "mythic," like part human and part ancient god. I really look forward to the finished product, whenever you can do it. I know it's not easy to sculpt in granite, as you need time, concentration and patience. But the angles in the face, the downward angle of the lips and eyes---these are very expressive. I can't wait to see what you do with this... Btw, the photograph itself is very enticing: The deep blue granite sitting on that bright orange 'brick'? It's quite effective! And it looks great on top of that tiled floor, and in front of that stark dark olive-green wall---the wall has more carved-textures, as if the it were harmonizing with the stone. The photo itself is quite appealing. I really like it, Ana! If you see Michelangelo's unfinished sculptures, they look like 'mysterious beings'---like pre-formed humans---emerging out of the earth. That's how this feels. Great to see this and to see you here again: You grace us with blessing each time you come. "Drawing life out of stone..." what could be more basic to art than that? Beautiful. Thanks for coming here, Ana...

Doesn't look a thing made in one day, Ana! Not easy to reveal the soul of stone. You did! Hope you're doing fine, my friend!
