Gimp is very good I use on linux been around long time I prefer Photoshop on Windows. I also use Krita which is like free Photoshop good with tablet and pen, nice and smooth.
Press F1 in Gimp see what comes up. I can't remeber if it was quick guide or more in depth. If not what you want click link bellow.
Unfortunately the main plugin registry I used has been locked they had issues. If you were already a member then you could still download although I believe that is not going well either with login issues. I am a member but finding password is like needle in haystack and reset might not be option. This does not mean there is not some available elsewhere but it was a good database.

Would you share GIMP pdf tutorial?And any free plugin in windows. This a new software for me. I want to do texture with uv map(about doing texture by cloth uv map) but not same as ps.
Anyway GIMP is an open source. And I find start it that is very slowly. GIMP is smooth in linux as it is made in linux first. Thanks
