November, 2017, Vendor of the Month:

We congratulate Godin on being our Renderosity Vendor of the Month. Her marketplace store features over 150 3D figure assets and 3D models primarily created in Poser and Daz Studio. Her work is beautiful and detailed. You'll find jewelry collections, lip resources, alluring models: all at affordable prices. Godin's imagination is inspiring.

Godin took time out of her schedule to answer a few questions about her work and creative methods. She hand-picked 10 of her works for the video (see above). Our thanks to Godin for her help in putting this interview and video together.

Interview with Vendor of the Month - Godin

Renderosity: I really love your work, Valery. It's so detailed and poetic. How do you create images like Fairy Forest Magic?

Godin: For this image I used DAZ Studio 4.9 and rendered it with Iray and saving it out of DAZ Studio as a png format. After rendering I imported the image into Photoshop and postworked it. mainly it is a intuitive flow while using photoshop I try out several tools like brightness, contrast and gausian blur and saturation and many many more tools to get the effect I am after.

GDN River in your store is a favorite image of Renderosity members. While the rendering and details are excellent, I was so impressed with the sense of aliveness you bring to the model. How do you achieve this effect?

Godin: First of all, thank you for this huge compliment that means a lot to me. The most important thing in making this image look so alive is using DAZ Studio and it’s Iray engine and great lights to go with. I really love rendering with these lights by Fabiana “Theory of Light - Zen Moods Iray Lights and HDRI’s” I use these and Colm’s lights frequently. Often I use a combination of Fabiana’s lights / HDRI’s and Colm’s lights. I like working with the lights by dimensiontheory and Sveva too, they are really amazing.

For this image I used Jerry Hair by Swam and I used the Maggie Outfit for Genesis 8 Female by Wilddesigns and not to forget Genesis 8 Female I just love that new figure. Another very important thing for me is using great skin, hair and cloths with high quality textures and shaders on them. Last but not least is the way of posing the character to go with a subtle expression. It is all about the right combination of all the above mentioned ingredients for me to get a image like GDN River look so alive.

What is your background? Where you always someone who like do create art?

Godin: My name is Valery I am married to a most wonderful and supportive husband and his name is Patrick. We have no childeren but we do have a beautiful and sweet cat called Rumi and for us he is like our little baby.

I am 44 years old and live in the Netherlands a beautiful country in Europe. I love creating art. Most things I do is self thought or picked up via video training tutorials. I have always been creative. I started drawing and sculpting at a very early age. I found this 3D world because I was looking for a program wherein I could pose figures and look at them from all angles for use of my sculptings.

I Found DAZ Studio via a weblink in a magazine and that was just what I needed. The minute I started to work with DAZ Studio I was hooked. I mainly create characters for figures like Genesis 3 & 8 female and sometimes I make Jewelry and poses too. I am working hard to further develop my modeling skills and hope to create props and cloths for 3d figures next year too

What tools do you use to create your work?

Godin: I use Daz Studio, Zbrush, Photoshop, Blacksmith3D, Mari and Modo

When working on a character I first start with making the morphs for the face and Body of the figure in Zbrush and/or Modo. Next I save out the morphs within DAZ Studio. Next I start on creating a base skin for the character. I paint a skin with human reference skin images either in Mari or in Blacksmith3d. For fine tuning the skin I use photoshop.

After that is done I start making the base skin shaders and save that out as a material preset for the character in DAZ Studio. Next I start on creating the eyes, eyelashes, make ups and lipstick and all extra what I think is needed for a certain character.

Last that is needed after saving the material presets in DAZ studio for all the options is creating thumbnails. After that Rendering the promo images and uploading the product to store J

How has Renderosity made a difference in your life as an artist?

Godin: Renderosity is where I became a vendor. I am so greatful and happy that Renderosity has given me the oppertunity to become a vendor. Thank you so much for that! It really has changed my live enormously because I was and still am able to make this 3D Hobby my work and it is like a dream come true.

Anything you'd like to add before we close the interview?

Godin: I want to thank all my Customers, Renderosity, Friends & Family to make this all possible for me. I could not have done this without you all! Thank you all so much for your support!
