Description

Spring and Summer are often warm and happy times, full of sunshine and special vacations. Everyone has a special place they like to go, somewhere around the world or maybe even close to home, but that place is what our Writer's Forum Challenge is about for May. Write a short story [or poem] with the theme of "That Special Place" in mind. Last month's challenge winner, evielouise chose this theme. So from special hiding places just for you to grand family vacations, what is your special place... The above inspired me to attempt to write apoem tonight: Thanks to everyone who voted for me yippe feels good just like james Brown said it!

Really excellent poem.. wish it was a bit larger, was hard to read.. but I did figure it out.. Wonderful sentiment and image too! My favorite places to go.. I can't reach anymore.. because they are deep in my memories.. and involve people who are no longer around. Next best.. would be alone in a dense forest, early morning, mid June.. when the smell of damp wood, warm morning misty fog and birds awakening create a magical atmosphere of mystery with hope for what marvels lay around the next bend. Super image Evie. Thanks for the inspirational break.. Hugs, Dave :^) V

Out for a pleasure cruise navigation is the place I like. A bearing on a radio tower and the sun keep the craft alternately on course as fog banks sweep over or bright sunlight takes away the silence. The awe of being thousnads of miles from the nearest land in one direction and just a few miles in another is all it takes.

Dear Evie, This is very intringuing - where would I pick as a "special place." I don't know if I could select one without also specifiying a time to go with it. Under the right circumstances, I think almost anywhere can be special - and yet very ordinary at other times. Really a pretty picture and such a nice poem!! Congratualations again for last month!! Excellent work!! Love, Meredith
