Description

A roach is a roach, right? Meet the Johannesburg version of the cockroach... Affectionately named the Parktown Prawn, this critter actually hisses at you... Local legend is that it's a genetic mutation that escaped from one of the science labs in the area and subsequently became a plague. Update: The Parktown prawn is neither a roach, nor is it a Jerusalem Cricket... read here for more details.... http://home.intekom.com/intekom/parktown_prawns/

Nice to see another South African showing off the wonders that we see almost every day. Good shot and layering. Would like to see a pic of a live one because this one looks like it's dead.

Fascinating in a grotesque kind of way. I love insects, but not when they're almost as big as me! Great shot!

Tim, nice pix also of the old man's hand as well. You forgot to mention how this critter stank, and how long the pong stayed on my hand. Anybody out there want to read my fortune?

Bugs like that really need to find a good lawyer to justify their existence. I can appreciate the toning here though... nice work with that...it places the emphasis at hand where you want it!! lol
