Description

Was originally doing this for the Mars Colonisation contest. Full radiosity, eventually, this is just a test render. Need something though but I can't think what. DOF maybe? Any suggestions?

Nicely done scene, good composition. Interesting craft

Thanks SeigMancer, I think it still needs something though. Thinking of maybe atmospherics or summat.

You need another texture for the cliffs, and the need some smoothing, way too few polygons.

You're on to something very cool here! Take a step back and review the composition... it balances nicely, but in terms of crediblity things might be laid out a bit differently to be an efficient terraforming colony. Askguden has a point about more polygons in the terrain... have you taken a look at Terragen for generating a terrain LWO for you? The lighting looks preliminary still, so I won't be a pest, but don't forget to increase your anti-aliasing for the next update. In terms of modeling... it looks all very good, but it might be even more impressive if all the elements felt like they came from the same technological culture. Just a few critical suggestions. :o)

Thanks Moebius. It was a bit of a rush job as far as the models, etc. It WAS going into the contest which was finishing shortlyish. It was just supposed to 'suggest' a terraforming colony. The Outside landscape 'is' a terragen but around the landing base was already a part of the model. Both 'will' be sub-d'd for the final render. The lighting will be full radiosity with a 5 pass full anti-alias. Am going to model a few pipes for water to the terraforming, now, and the background meshes came from the Helgard - LV-246 Colonist Complex. The other models are 'Space 1999'. Hee hee hee, quite a difference in age.

Well ... Subd'd the landscape and added the atmospherics. This is STILL a non-radiosity render for testing but lighting will be radiosity, when full out rendered. At least I anti-aliased, huh Moebius? Hee hee.

Kool pic, maybe if you ajusted the position of the main light to the left or right, then your picture would have more depth. The DOF idea is good too and will help this pic and take the advice of moebius87 and wack in a few more objects or rescale some of the others.Good luck jif3d
