Description
I was very happy with the way "Falltogether" turned out, so I decided to make something new with the same methods of working. Again this is entirely in Painter 8, I only used Photoshop for the (very subtle) colour tinting as I'm still more comfortable with colourizing this way at the moment.
Starting with the pen tool, I doodled while staring blankly into the centre of the screen, trying to think as little as possible about what I was doing. Then came the most time-consuming bit - the shading - developing the resulting shapes into soft forms. Next I overlaid a photo of a strange tree trunk I took recently, and also a shot of myself, in both cases trying to be as spontaneous as possible. Finally, some extra drawn lines and shading with the pen tool again, before bringing it into PS for tinting.

What works so well for me in this image is the contrast of the shaded sweeping almost organic forms against the fine and delicate line work. Quite excellent.

Its hard to believe that this was made with a computer. Like others have already said its very organic. I thought was a fantastic statement as well "I'm not trying to "communicate" anything with this image, it just is." I think more people should tackle images with this philosophy of exposing the subconscience. Great result!!
