Description

I wasn't happy with the first version of this--never really liked the mats I used.

Original Image

So, here is version 2, also with a different lighting technique. Comments and feedback are welcome.

Didn't see your first. . . . but your metallic textures are excellently realistic!!

Textures and reflections make this a more striking image than the first, which was still nice. Prefer this, tho. Nice work, mate.

The gold inlay on the board is a nice touch, and those are terrific mats. Maybe lower the ambience on the pieces a notch? Beautiful image!

I like the metal in the board and the HEAVY pieces, the light/shadow & reflections are better too.

Super impressed with the metal material. Also the inlaid on the board really sets it off. Excellent!!

I like this one better, the metal textures is a nice contrast to the other textures you've used, although I can't tell the difference in the lighting. Great work..

Much improved, this one glows with detail and is much more realistic! I see a big difference in the lighting, switching back and forth the foreground is lighter in this one, kinda draws your eyes through the scene better...

Indeed you have sought realism and perfected it here. Love the metal mats for the pieces and the beautiful marble chessboard. Looks very much like an actuall game after it has ended, with the thoughtful checkmate you included. Excellent work!

Fantastic work and you just got my vote. The material and lighting work really well and I have a suspicion this one didn't render very quickly! Makes me want to dig out my old chess board and see if I can rustle up an opponent.
