Description
- Lan enjoyed his balcony. Anyone else in the fortress avoided looking out at the scortched and barren landscape and the masses of discontented people. But Lan found it's vastness appealing

I like this picture. The contrast between figure&curtain and the surroundings makes it optimistic, although the setting is somewhat Kafkaesque (reminds me of "The Castle"). Some constructive criticism: it may be a good idea to add more volume to the balcony. The wall is black, but the cement between the bricks still partially reflects the light, so you may try to experiment with changing the color of the lines in such way that it would show the difference in the amount of light the wall and the different surfaces of the balcony are receiving due to angle. You are making progress and, IMHO, this is one of your best pictures.
