Description
An old photo, on the lake...
(I posted it long ago.)
What were they looking at?
Just a moment I wanted to capture on "film".
(digital, but I can dream...)
Thank you so much for your visits. I know I often get few comments these days (I've been gone a long time), but all of you have given me so much. Many thanks. m
(if this shows up small, it might be worth a zoom...just for the details)

Whatever they are looking at seems to be completely fascinating to all of them. I really like the black and white treatment of this photo. Its such an interesting moment that lends itself to so many stories and ideas.
interesting photo and contrast of it Mark. wonder if there was someone streaking? sure is a great capture no matter what their interest is.
This photo does a great job of capturing a moment in time. It's one of those images where the viewer would likely have to use their imagination to fill in the blanks about this image. I like the B&W contrast quality to it. My take is they are watching a clown act that someone hired for a birthday party. lol
I remember the times when clowns were viewed as a fun thing to have on a kids birthday face painting and blowing upon balloons for small kids. Nowadays clowns have a bad reputation as bad people due to all the many horror movies that have been done about them and therefore have suffered badly from the negative stigma attached to them.
It's nice to have you back Mark! :-)
It's was a such a great pleasure for me to have a look at all your newest uploads dear Mark! 👍
What a powerful image. I don't know if the overexposure was intentional or not, but in either case it works for this image. No distracting backgrounds or other scene elements which would make the scene ordinary and less impactful. What are they looking at? The viewer can make up their own story. If the exposure was a mistake this is a triumph because of it.
Thanks so much, and for your other comment as well (that was an improvised tale, and I'm always relieved when someone likes them because they're all over the map and not easy to follow.) For the photo here, the original was bright, but I purposely postworked it for sheer white background (actually, it's more of a cream hue) to let the family and tufts of grass and branches stand out in relief. (Lake Michigan is behind them---a real scene stealer!---but in this rare case, I whited it out to 'silhouette' the family. Thanks for your thoughtful perceptions, much appreciated. Oh...and as for what they're looking at---I had no clue! After taking several shots, they turned to me and bowed. "First time anyone's done that!" I said. They took off after that...
