OK, it (once again) has been a few days without much activity from me. I’ll be getting caught up on comments – again – in the next couple of days.
On the 19th, I got a message from my bank indicating suspicious activity in our main (checking) account. I logged on to the bank website to check. I found a $1500.00 charge to Amazon Web Services. I have never used AWS… It was after closing hours, but the bank website has “service” reps on line 24 hours.
I called the 1-800 number listed in the message and spoke with someone. I told her that charge was fraudulent, and not made by me. It was charged to my debit card, so she told me that card would be deactivated, and a new card sent. Nothing was said about the $1500 I was out.
I spent the next 2 days going back and forth with many different divisions of the bank (including the Fraud Department which is apparently staffed by “reps” in INDIA after hours. Absolutely no one could tell me anything about the stolen $1500. My gut was in an uproar most of the weekend. Nobody I spoke with seemed able to or interested in taking care of my insignificant little problem. Of course this was after hours and over the weekend.
I finally did what I should have done from the start. I emailed our friend who is the Branch Manager at the office about 2 miles away. We met with her Monday, and in a little over an hour she accomplished everything we needed. The $1500 is back in our account.
She told me the hacker / hackers that somehow got my card number tried 2 or 3 more times to charge stuff to my card. An investigation is now underway. I hope I never find out who they are – I’ll get myself arrested… Bastards.
Anyway, I just wanted to let everyone know what’s going on in my calm, peaceful, and relaxing world. Yes, I’m being facetious.

So sorry to here Rod...I can only imagine how angry, frustrated and helpless this event made you feel. Got to be so careful nowadays. Someone has been trying to hack my emails and FB. I shut my FB down. I do not trust the electronic systems in place for our everyday life and absolutely despise out of country call centers.
Glad you got your $$$ back but it doesn't make up for the stress.

Oh, what a pain! There are a lot of scammers about and sadly new methods becoming available with AI software assistance, so we're all going to have to learn about those to prevent them from tricking us. Glad you got your money back, a shame it wasn't as easy as it ought to be.

Sorry to hear about your misfortunes... this is one of the reasons I mainly use "burner" cards for online purchases.
Though, I have been getting a few emails recently about problems with my Amazon account that require my urgent and immediate attention... ... ... bet there are some 😲MAJOR problems😲 with it, since I don't have one and have never had one.
Glad to see you could have a little fun/laugh with the situation and create an image that hopefully helps ease the pain for you a bit.

Absolutely scandalous that it happened in the first place Rod, but the lack of urgency by the Bak initially, troubles me. You've probably taught each one of us to be more cautious and those thieves may have got your card and pin number from a false card reader attached to your local cash machine. Stay extra safe Sir!

Its troublesome to hear the trouble these hackers brought your way Rod! Unfortunately we all live in an unsafe world now and it just keeps getting worse as time goes on! The bankers with the help of our government, will eventually want a digital world wide currency. That in itself will open the door to all the hackers to participate fully in this great economy we will all find ourselves in. Its not looking good my friend! :-)

I've had a similar experience with my bank credit card. Can't remember the exact details but whoever had my account number did a trial charge of 3 exactly the same purchases right in a row. I got notified right away by my cell phone and got it cleared up right away! I've heard it can be a lot more difficult if it happens on your debit card. That is why I only used my credit card and pay it all off at the end of the month. Can't afford to let any charge accumulate with those exorbitant interest charges. Glad you had fun with your 3 paneler here! It turned out quite nicely! Many fine kudos from me! I'm glad you got your fraudulent activity rectified too! We all have worked hard for our money and certainly can't afford to be leached off of by lazy bastard hackers!

The TNA girls rock! Great news you had your money back but I wonder what would happen to those without qualified friends able to fix and care about their problems. As Johnny said, things aren't looking too shiny.

Glad it worked out. You might see a lot of hacking and fraudulent activity occurs on or just before the weekend to make it hard to talk to someone in person that is actually in this country and can help with a CC or bank account. Especially when bank accounts are involved.

The TNA girls are a very satisfying fantasy sometimes. It makes me both mad and sad that there are so many people working on stealing hard earned money. Just had to change our Debit card because of an attempt to use it fraudulently. =(

Yeah, more than once I've wished I had a real TNA at my disposal.. There would be a number of folks we all know well that would wake up with a piece of artillery inserted in an uncomfortable place!
