Description

This is a great set with excellent textures that just falls short of perfection. Previously, I used the helmet and rocket pack with my character Periwinkle to create a Sky Ranger. I was disappointed at the time at the lack of any ability to adjust the harness and coat to any real degree. All you get is an "expand all" slider. However, since I was using a G8F, I figured not to feel too strongly about it. After, all I was using it in an unintended manner. This time, this is loaded on Valentino 8. I've managed to hide most of the issues, but the fact remains. The coat needs more adjustment sliders. Case in point, if you look at the bottom of the coat you can see the layers of if clipping through each other. I tried to fix it with Mesh Grabber. No cigar. Moving one layer moves both and its still clipping through. That makes it a bit frustrating to use. On top of that, I had to hide parts of the strap that were clipping through the coat. I feel if that front panel had its own adjustment, both issues could be easily remedied. Now, on a base G8M? It doesn't clip and the harness fits perfectly. It's just a bit disappointing that I can't really make it work with a custom character. With those excellent 4k textures, too, it's actually pretty difficult (at least for me) to fix in a photo editor. I'm sure it can be done, but... Overall, I like how this came out. As a way of showing off the set, I think it still works. I will be changing my earlier review, however. I really shouldn't have left one until I tried using the full set in a render. I still really like that rocketpack, and the helmet is just plain perfect. I mean, it's all picture-perfect, just so long as you don't put it on a character other than the base G8M. I could re-run with base G8, but I think its better to leave it as-is. So often I've found neat things, purchased because of awesome promo art, only to learn that a lot of post-work went into it, or that it pretty much requires very specific options to be set. Hopefully this doesn't seem too salty. :) Background is the stage Zoro-D made for the Belly Dancer, though I did change the curtain out for the American flag. Kinda hits that classic pulp fiction vibe, if you ask me. If I were to apply a filter I'm sure it would obscure the clipping enough to make it a non-issue. So, all in all, definitely usable.

Yes, still a fave. And love the classic pinup-style art with Bettie Page. Thanks for the feedback!

Issues or not, it looks cool. Certainly has that "All American Hero" vibe that just oozed from the old black and white films (in fact, I think if you did it in black and white, it'd probably be damn near perfection! Little bit of a vignette round the edge, a touch of sepia, some grain...).

Oh, yeah. I've got a few version on my hard drive, but decided to post it "raw." Thanks for having a look.

This is lovely work. I feel your pain when you go to make those little needed tweek's and realize the are non existent. Sometimes it is a deal breaker on using that clothing set is the specific character is more important to the render. In this case, you made it all play nice together. It looks great at (open full image)

This, being a showcase, is a bit plain. I'm rendering one right now that pushes it to more artistic, and I fix the clip with the geometry editor. (I assigned those polygons to a new surface group, and then turned the opacity to zero for that group.)

The helmet alone is worth the set, I maintain, and the jetpack can be used for other things with some creative tweaking. I still think my "Sky Ranger" render I posted a while back is one of my best, and it uses both items.

I hate leaving "bad" reviews, though. I hope the honesty is appreciated, though.

Thanks for having a look!

With all the work I spent getting this pose right, I had to go in and take it that next level. And, though it feels weird to say, Chasfh's new lingerie set has been inspiring me. Glad you like it.

See you in the funny papers!
