Description

I return to the photos I took at the archaeological site at Glanum in France last Septer (2015). I hope I am not boring everyone to tears. I found the place very interesting and beautifully peaceful.

Et dire qu'il n'en apparaissait rien quand Van Gogh en croquait le valon

I'm with Mike. This is fascinating. Most of the literature I've read concentrated on Rome and its wars. Its nice to learn about other parts of the empire.

I expect that these were fine structures at one time

I sure understand how you feel. I cannot afford to travel to distant destinations either. I am fortunate to live within a couple of days drive to this area and we have camping gear. (saves a bundle in hotel costs) That is one thing I love about RR is the chance to travel from the armchair. Only one problem with it is we can only share the beautiful photos and our words...no media yet that I know of can give the presence of a place. For example this place really had a peaceful, quietness and an old and sort of sacred feel to it. But, that is something a person must experience for themselves to really feel.

I can almost feel the peace and quiet of the place from here. What a wonderful thing it must be to visit such a site!

Very nice picture and I like the fact that you included the floor plan so to speak. Gives one a better understanding of the whole layout! .
