Description

This part of the Teddy and Bird story takes place soon after Teddy has left home, but has not yet met Bird. Teddy has walked through the valley and climbed up to a rocky outcrop, where he takes a last, sad look at the distant town where he used to live. Some of the detail has been lost in this image, (the distant town is one example) mainly due to the muddy JPEG compression. I guess thats what happen when you reduce a 5000 wide pixel render for display on the web.

beautiful, the depth of this landscape is really awesome! I assume, you have used grayscale profile? good arrangment of the trees and bushes. what kind of object is the town?

Hi Gareth, great WB work and a perfect layout, i miss some shadows of the trees in the front though, and the sundisk looks a bit strange, but it's very hard to get that right, I tried this myself but you can't get it bright enough to make it look realistic (made a wish on WB site for this) BTW your road always look superb.

I love images that make me smile. This is truly art at its best, when it touches the emotions of the viewer :)

Okay, so where do we get to see the 5000 px version with less compression? ;-) Looks excellent, wonderfull work! I agree that there seems to be a lack of shadows though.

Really beautiful job! I like the depth of the image, and the great vista which is often hard to convey. Just wondering - At what point do you start using flipboards for the trees? Obviously the closer images are 3D. How do you gauge the distance at which flipboards become the most effective solution? Thanks, Chas

Thanks for all comments, much appreciated. To answer a few questions, the landscape is a greyscale profile. Distant town very simple 3D shapes, imported and given basic textures to look like houses from a distance. This town looked good on the printed version, but got a bit lost when downsizing image for web. Shadows -only added a few, found that the shadows were making the landscape too dark, it had scary, horror film feel to it, and I was after more of a clean looking image, so I used lots of lights, to add a feeling of depth and colour to the landscape.

Wow, stumbled across this one while browsing the R'osity galleries. The story of Teddy and Bird seems so adorable, and the artwork is top-notch, to boot. I sense a children's book hit! ; )

Fabulous composition! Teddy makes feel somewhat pity (the name for the composition also plays it's role of course). Very impressive!

Haven't been a while on this Gallery, but what a great image this is ! Ofcourse the composition, but also the carefully positioned and tuned lighting everywhere, it all must have been a lot of work.
