Description

A must, zoomed...and please scroll: It's not much, small...
Ok, I was gonna do a "cross section of a Redwood," in honor of Bill's beautiful redwood series. Then it started to look like wood chips. Two hours later? A topographical map. And by the 5th hour? I evoked the great Out of all abstract painters: "It's what you want it to be!" (Cheap answer, ok, but I don't know what it is!) It's natural, that's all, and I hope you like it, Bill! You all know that Helle got me started in photography, then Bill got me to the next step: He sent me his DSLR. I didn't ask for it, mind you: He offered it. He lent it to me for as long as I wanted. How grand is that??? But he topped it off with this wonderful advice on cameras, DSLR vs. Bridge, experiences, recommendations, etc. Bill is a great teacher: He's an absolute natural. He got me over the DSLR Hump, took away the terror, and opened up a whole new world. I said I owed him a huuuuuge thank you, so here it is. But that's not all. You all know Bill's gallery (bmac62, here): He's one of the most sensitive photographers here, he has an eye for the most delicate balance & beauty, his work is like fine wine, he handles water & sky like jewels, he handles interiors like beautiful chambers of the memory, and he studies assiduously and comes out with acts of Love, not study---Love. And to top it off (yes, the capper): He's one of the kindest people you'll meet---something affirmed by everyone who knows him across the board. Gentle, caring, with an endless zeal for quality and inner beauty... Thank you for your help & kindness, Bill; and your wonderful art and, above all, your friendship. It's been a privilege, my friend, and one I'm grateful for everyday. I send blessings & bows to you so you may flourish forever: You're a gem, and I'm blessed to have you in my life!
Mark * * * I'll be gone for a little bit for work, but I'll be back. A fine Wednesday to all! Mark (Painted in Photoshop.)

Immediately I was wrapped in the sense of various forms of wood, from chips to planks to ripped branches of driftwood--all perfectly appropriate for Bill, since he's shown us so much of the beauty that wood gives this planet. Fantastic piece of work, Mark!

This could be so many things, but I see chips from a big tree, which I guess is exactly what it's meant to be. And you are so right about Bill; he's a gem and this is a wonderful dedi to him!!

It is great, Mark, and FULL of faces..everywhere!! Doggy faces, bearded faces, a moon face (it's the steroids that cause them I believe,) and a few scary masks.

Oh boy Mark, what a beautiful piece. So here I am in the nature-loving Northwest where one finds the Pacific Ocean, Puget Sound, the Cascade Mountains, snow, sand, rocks, beaches, rivers, creeks, temperate rainforests, Salmon, deer, elk, water fowl, and quiet back roads. Somehow your dedi art for me brings all these things to life. I've zoomed and LOOK...there...see the forested mountains? See the sandy beaches? See the grain fields of Eastern Washington? See the meandering creeks and rivers? See the cliff dwellings...I know the Pueblos are in the southwest, but hey, there's nothing wrong with me seeing a few in the Northwest now is there? As for colors...I like seeing life through rose-colored glasses. Somebody said a long time ago (paraphrased) that if you look down all the time, all you see is dirt...but if you look up, there's the sun, blue skies, the stars, the moon, the whole world. Put another way, I like to look for the positives and your upload for me is a VERY BIG positive! As for the loan of my first DSLR to you, it simply cried out from its box, "Hey, I am not doing anything in here! How about sending me on a vacation to Chicago? I'd like to meet this guy Mark. I'll bet I can get him to like me:) Maybe I can even show him a thing or two about my extended DSLR family. It couldn't hurt...could it? I'll take your old cell phone and call you now and then. But don't rush me, I'd like to stay awhile." Once again, this is the most gracious and artistic thank you note I've ever received. Thanks a million:)

Mark, this really is a wonderful dedication you came up with. I enjoyed reading about all the thought that went into this marvelous creation, and I know it will be greatly appreciated. It really is a magnificent design, and sometimes the most beautiful creations come from the most unexpected ideas.

Beautiful compo of swirling colors and feral textures in this stellar dedication to our friend, Bill, who did something I would stop short of doing, send you his treasured DSLR. I might send a point-and-shoot camera, but never my DSLR. How many people would do that? Not me, despite my arsenal of three other cameras. I must say this man has great faith and trust in mankind. Incidentally, on further perusal of the rendering, I see what looks like a face at the middle top. In fact, more and more anthropological images come to the surface as I scan it further.

I love this beautiful image you have done especially for Bill. The colours really catch my eye and the textures you have used are stunning. It reminds me of a fractal with a lovely woody grain to it and a great sense of nature at its best. It is well worth all the time that it took to produce and it is for one of our nicest artists at Renderosity. Very imaginative work.

I adore interesting wood as much as flowers. You have captured the textures, gnarls, colors, shapes, timeless mysteries, and world that lives inside this redwood. There is even sunlight reflecting throughout. What a lovely and unique image and beautiful dedi for Bill.CC
