A Polish jude friend of my father has lost all her family in Poland during the WW2. She is 90 years old and she could escape in France by changing her name and having a new "identity".

A simple image that says so much...the boxcar ..the towers...the cold wintry athmosphere...the silence...the sadness. They are all there

This is a strikingly stark and simple image. Even without the historical context, it would have power. It makes an incredibly strong statement with it. Everything is so grey and so barren, despite the namesake trees. Thank you for sharing this with us, and for making the journey to this place.
