Description

On my third day in NYC, we went to South Street Seaport and to the Brooklyn Bridge. It has become a sort of ritual for me to cross the bridge when I go to New York. Rituals sometimes go better than others, and the day was overcast and the bridge bandaged in white tarps. But this was still the Brooklyn Bridge and the magic was there. The history in the stones, the people, the views of the city. This image was taken near the Manhattan end of the bridge. On the left are buildings of Pace University. I have been very busy since coming back and am slowly catching up on comments. I hope everyone has had a great weekend. Thank you to all who wished me a happy birthday by images, emails, and comments. It was very much appreciated. Thanks for viewing and for previous comments and favs.

This is a fantastic shot, and I so get the whole being busy thing...I've been in a state of odd flux since the end of March and that particular storm isn't letting up soon, but at least the woeful thunders have stopped. This is such a fantastic shot. It's moody, but not in a dark and oppressive way; it's more textured than that, and quite exciting. I love the light/dark contrast, the pervasive blueness of it, and the whole "beauty of twilight" you've captured so well. Twilight shots are so hard to get, but they're so well worth it when they turn out like this. And as for birthday wishes, most definitely Happy Birthday, and stay tuned...one more birthday thingie is on its way.

Fantastic capture of the herd animals fleeing the city for the 'burbs. Twilight is such a wonderful time of day. The sun is about to disappear leaving a darkness ripe with possibilities. New York comes alive for me after dark. As for the history in the stones, that too is part of my ritual. Mine are the grave markers of my ancestors. Visiting them and eating pizza. Two absolute musts for me. This is a really great image. It brings back all sorts of memories.

Have to say that I really like this one Lucinda as pointed out above the weather really helped set a tone. Like you I think traditions are wonderful and it was nice to see you didn't let anything including Mother Nature stand in the way of you and Leslie celebrating your tradition in New York.

Great picture. I can clearly see the ritual end of the business day, where one wearily leaves behind the world of professional work seeking the now very inviting realm of suburban home. Quite a good capture for this everyday feeling.
