Description

Taken last Tuesday about 8pm. The weather was very pleasant as you can see from people's attire. San Antonio is most famous for the Alamo, which was a mission before becoming famous as the fortress in the battle of the Alamo in which all or almost all defenders died. "Remember the Alamo" became a rallying cry for those fighting for separation from Mexico. At some point towards the end of the walk my son, who doesn't have a digital camera yet, showed me a setting on my camera to help take night pictures. Yeah James! (Maybe he'll want his own soon.) I took this one hand held, using the Tv setting. Then a filter, probably dry brush. Happy Holidays!

This one is breathtaking Lucinda as I've always been fascinated by the Alamo and oddly enough just watched the old John Wayne movie (The Alamo) that only featured a replica of it. So you can imagine what a thrill it is to see it here in this beautiful night setting.

I have stood on that spot but in the summer months. The tree is a strange mix of larger than life Christmas. You give us a very nice shot of this famous piece of history in San Antonio. Love your kitty. For others: This is a fine visit and do not be surprised at the location right in the city...you can be in the Alamo and forget the surrounding city for the time. God Bless and Merry Christmas. To Hispanics and possible Spanish there, happy nativity.

Not only a phenomenal capture of the Alamo at night, and during Christmas week, Lucinda, but if one looks closely, the ghosts of Davy Crockett, Jim Bowie, William Travis and brave others can be seen moving about within its hallowed grounds. And your son has been checking out digital cameras, I see. A photographer in the making!

The strongest feelings I have ever had for a place were felt right here. I lived very near the Alamo and would spend at least one day a week in the plaza. Beautiful shot.
