Description


Finally decided to start learning an animation program. This scene is the result of working through the Haunted House tutorial available at Maxon's website. The tutorial walks you through modeling the house and lighting the scene, but I decided to go in my own directions to do the texturing. The trees were modeled and textured in ZBrush.

Nice job, welcome to the community. I just downloaded a demo version of zBrush and whoa! what an addictive program. I was wondering......(this may be a stupid question) are the tree's just placed as a background pic or did you somehow incorporate them 3D into the modeling? (just wondering because as far as I can tell, zbrush is a 2d program.

ZBrush is a 2.5D program, incorporating both 2D and 3D. You can paint completely in 2D, paint with depth in 2.5D, or model in 3D. In fact, ZBrush has one of the most intuitive organic modeling approaches around -- very much like sculpting with clay. A very common approach is to create something in 3D within ZBrush and then use the 2.5D tools to add additional detail and complete the scene. But ZBrush can import and export OBJ and DXF, which means that you can create 3D objects or texture them for use in other programs (both of which I did here with the trees), or bring them from other programs for incorporation into a ZBrush scene (which you'll see I've done a lot of with Poser, if you check out my gallery). yes i agree with Aurick, zbrush is a good organic modeling program, i used it sometime to add details to my organics models (for example my "olds whales"), but i think that isn't the best choice to model trees (I try it and...AAAJJJ awful ;-)). Now Im modeling trees with C4D directly, is funny (but hard). Cheers.

cool scene, I like spooky stuff. You may want to make the sky and overall lighting dark so it adds more depth to the hunted feeling. Nice modeling on the house.

If you lower the lighting around the house and the sky color, the creepiness factor will go up. Have to be careful about how dark you want things, too dark and people can't see things. Looks cool now.
