Description

Some months ago I made two ocean images, links below. At the time, I started two more that I abandoned because of other more interesting projects running in my mind at the time. I recovered one of these abandoned images now, finalized it and here it is, I hope you like it. The title is inspired by a great song from Nightwish, "Over the hills and far away". thumb_1729707.jpg thumb_1729097.jpg Thanks for watching!

Very nice indeed but fyi - "Over the hills and far away" is actually a traditional 18th C English song :)

This captures my heart... The waves and moonlit sky are absolutely masterful! After being spellbound by the movement of the water and the way the light plays upon it, I'm drawn to the tree... And I'm sad for it, so lonely in the middle of the ocean. When I grow up, I want to render like you! Oh wait... I'm already grown up! DANG!! :p

Damn, you do kick-ass water! I love the flocks of birds by moonlight. It's like something out of a dream.

Very scary looking waves (I just some TV show on Rouge Waves, and this image made me think of it). Great lighting too, and the sky full of birds makes it all the more ominous.

Stunning! The seagulls are a great touch. Were they postwork, or an ecosystem?

This one really moves me. Part of it is the lighting, the moon, and the utter loneliness of the tree, but I think more than anything it is the size of the swell. That means ocean, deep ocean and the birds mean land is near, even if you can't see it. It's hard to describe that feeling, but you have brought it out in your piece, at least for me. Thank you.

Impressive picture! So much power is coming from this, we are really wondering if this little tree will make it against all that water.

Powerful work! The ocean is magnificent, as is the sky, and the lonely tree is a marvelous symbol of strength in adversity...
