Cloth is always full of history. In my Museum of Photography, apart from around 500 cameras, we have quite a few mannequins dressed in authentic Victorian outfits, some old as 1880 or so.

Great macro shots of this fine cloth, Jock. Handmade has always been the most durable. Hey, have a great time at the gumbo cook-off. Eat some for me, too.

Very effective juxtapositions. My wife would tell me that some of my clothes are that old.

Excellent shots Jocko, the macro of the hole is fantastic, even the colour of the cloth makes it look very old. Superb work. Bravo!!!!! Hope you have a great time at the cook off and get some good gumbo down you.

wow... I am especially drawn to the middle frame; the dangling pieces of fabric and the bit that almost looks as if it had been burnt away are somehow appealing to me. : ) I read where you said this fabric is from the 1800's -- IMAGINE! A fabric surviving this long, even though it isn't in its best state.... Gotta agree with PD154 about the longevity of fabrics from those days vs. the nature of current cloths! But ya' know, I think the art of creating such fabrics isn't lost; it's just that less durable wares ensures continued sales! Thank you for sharing this. I love the variety (and many times, the education), you provide throughout your gallery! big smiles
