Description


this tiny falcon type bird was formally known in america as the sparrow hawk. its habitat ranges from the american subcontinent and canada. it is the smallest falcon in the americas the females are between 9 - 11 inches long while the males are between 8 - 10 inches long, the wingspan of the female is between 21 - 24 inches and the male between 20 - 22 inches. they bond usually for life and generally nest in the same nest every year. it nests in cavities e.g tree hollows, eaves in houses etc. they raise 2 broods a year which are between 3 - 7 eggs in each, and unsually both adult birds incubate the eggs.

I do not see anything in the eyes to indicate what vice saw, however, the nasal area just before the beak appears dried and flat in comparison to what I would expect. Does it have only one foot? I really love this though. It is a very skilled display of this bird and your photograph is outstanding.

the bird is alive and yes it does have 2 feet, lol. it was in a bird sanctuary and he is the only one that i have ever seen. he is very tiny in comparison to the other birds they had there. he was seen at a place called eagle heights in eynsford kent. jayne
