Description

Well here goes this is the first human I have painted.I want to try and get upto the standard of some of the great artist's here on this wonderful site.So any criticism will be welcome. To get things like skin tone's etc right ,I think I have a long way to go? Done in Artweaver on one layer, using the air and oil brush. Thanks for taking the time to look. Alec

Beautiful job! I am totally impressed by anyone who can do faces. This is an awesome painting. One little thing: The red background seems a bit too harsh to me. It's kind of distracting. Other than that, this looks great!

Alec, for your first human, this is marvelous. Good work on the hair, eyes are riviting. Some proportional issues with mouth an nose which will cure themselves with practice. Remind me and I'll give you some tips on lip hi-lighting. They're easy, eyes and lips, all light and it makes the realism more believable, but you've certainly crashed the scene and you're a player now. Start the next one. WELL done. Collin

This looks great for a first attempt! Is hard for me to say what you should do or what you shouldn't because I can't paint but skin tone is something that you pay attention. There are some yellow brownish brush strokes that look like stains. One good thing to do would be taking a photo of someone and trying to reproduce it.

I am sure that Linda would want to hang this portrait on her wall. Your use of rich colors makes her come alive.
