Description

June 14, 2006 Mount Merapi spews lava as seen from Deles village, outside Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Merapi continued to spew out scorching gas clouds and rock fragments, with one black plume in the mid-afternoon covering a large swathe of the mountain. This work was rendered in Vue 5I at Ultra. Fire, lava, smoke are combination of metablobs, clouds, and Portions of SeaVue by Monsoon. Touch up in Photoshop for color enhancements. Thanks for viewing. Comments are always appreciated.

Wow! The effects are fantastic! You really did a very very good job on this. This is the first time that I have seen the metablobs used in a composition...gives me an idea how they are suppose to be used. Thanks for that. Maybe you could give a tutorial about metablobs?.....Excellent work.

Those are really great effects you got there. However, Gunung Merapi is in a mountainous area covered in jungle, and your background is completely flat. That's such a pity, since it undoes the drama the effects of the erution create. Also I think this scene might be nicer with a night atmosphere...

Realizing the eruption of a volcano in Vue is still a challenge... and I think you did an amazing job with this picture. Bravo!
