I like ambiguity in art. Uncertainty. What has to conform to the limits of our reality? Metal, glass and flesh can merge seamlessly, as if the surreal worlds and the life forms within are one and the same, and yet at odds sometimes. I rarely seek to endow my works with any "message". I am more interested in people's personal responses.
I'm a multimedia artist working in fine art (including sculpture), digital art, graphic design and various forms inbetween, also illustrating book covers and numerous CD covers. I also work in musical soundscaping, both solo and in group projects, of which there are many releases. I'd like to say a big thanks to everyone here who has supported me in my work and beyond since I began posting in June 2001. Too many to mention, you all know who you are... I'm meeting very special people here :-)
Update 01-08-05: I've been given a 4 page feature article in Issue 3 of the new media magazine Contour based in Atlanta, Georgia. The images printed very well and they did me proud.
Update 21-03-06: I've been spending the last 6 months living in New South Wales, Australia. Inspiring place! Also in the process of illustrating the book covers for a series of Japanese books called Hikishio no Toki (Time of the Ebb Tide) by Mayumura Taku - to date I've completed the first two of the five volumes. I've recently been returning to traditional media as well as producing the usual digital art, and contributed a sculptural canvas to a recent local exhibition. Link: Saatchi Gallery webspace

A very sophisticated Boxing Day Ghost! I can see he reads a lot! :-) Like this abstract a lot - there might be a ghost but also a soul or just a feeling. It has real movement, and the lines are so fascinating! It might be a philosopher's soul, yes ... possibly. Very nice drawing Jim! Thanks for a delighting experience! :-D

This one is quite fascinating & very beautiful Jim! The form has something of that substantial almost sculptural feeling that we see in some of your other doodles yet at that same time it gives an impression of something delicate, organic but somehow ephemeral, Nice one ; )

I see crowds Jim. Crowds watching some sporting event or the crowds searching down bargins on sale the day after Christmas. I love the free flowing movement in this and the contrast of B&W. Excellent doodle and I had fun observing every inch of it.

Fascinating form, I abstain from trying to see things in it, just enjoy the shape and the beautifully done texturing and shading.

I just love Titta's analogy for this one and don't think I could invisige it any other way now L. The force of a philosopher's soul is so perfectly embodied within this subliminal creation (personally, I think its a mirror of the artist when creating in such a thought free way and this is a great example of this hugs). I loved watching you create this one and can't wait to see what comes next biggest hugs. Thank you for all that you do! xxxx

For me this is rather too bold and solid to represent a ghost, but it certainly has powerful symbolic presence. Each of us could probably give it a different meaning if asked to interpret it in isolation. Thanks Jim, for posting this thought-provoking and beautifully rendered work.
