He grew up in a middle class suburban neighborhood, and attended High School like most other children. He was not allowed to play football due to his size. Even at the age of 15, he stood over all his classmates and tipped the scales at 200 pounds. He was not obese. He was a giant. Psibane knew he was a mutant because of his size, but he never dreamed that his mutation gave him even more powers he wishes never developed. The Purification League captured him as he was walking home one evening. While he was under study, he was subjected to an individual who possessed incredible telepathic powers. The individual tore into Mathew's mind trying to find some piece of information. Psibane did not know what the individual was looking for, and he panicked. His mind managed to push the person out of his mind, and a wall formed in his mind keeping the person from ever getting in. Using his own mind, he willed himself to pull the straps from the table he was on. To his surprise the straps did not snap away, but energy formed about his hands and he ripped the metal straps from the table. He discovered he could project the same force as he started his escape from the laboratory. As he ran down the hall, he watched as bullets bounced off his skin. With a mighty leap, he bound over the enemy forces and escaped the lab. As he rested and considered his options, a man appeared. He introduced himself as Monolith, and he wanted Mathew to join his brotherhood. He agreed and took the name Psi-Bane. Powers/Weapons: Psi-Bane is a mutant who has developed enhanced strength and height. He has the ability to create a barrier of protective energy around himself, and create concentrated energy bursts. His unique talent is to create Psi energy blades from his hands that can cut through almost anything. He is very reluctant to use them on living creatures.
