Description

It was some hours later before anyone came to Rinn's cell, and then it was only to leave a wooden cup of water and a bit of dry-looking bread. Though by now he was very hungry, and even these meager offerings looked tempting, the strange girl's warning continued to echo in him mind. He took the piece of bread and examined it. It didn't smell quite right, something faint and odd amid the staleness. So, the girl was telling the truth... He hid the bit of bread in his pocket and poured the water out, letting it soak into the stony floor. Then, he sat down and began to think. It was "not-thinking" was what got him into this mess in the first place. Whoever this phantom girl Jessa was, she seemed to be helping him, but why? And how did she know his name? Perhaps she was a ghost, or maybe this was some kind of magic? And of course, there was the spell Ishar spoke of to consider.... Gods, it seemed like everyone had magic but him. So many questions... For now though, there was nothing to do but wait and see what happened. He didn't have to wait long. « Next First Page Previous »
