Subject: Using the Tri-Part Zipper Brush

monkeycloud ( ) posted Sat, 08 December 2012 at 5:32 PM · edited Wed, 18 March 2026 at 11:48 PM

Hi, I'm fairly new to ZBrush, 4R4 is my first version.

I'm hoping someone might be able to guide me on the two points below:-

I am trying to work out how to add the Tri-Part Zipper brush to a mesh.

Despite pouring over a load of docs and some tutorial videos at ZBrush Central, I'm still not much wiser about it.

I'm simply trying to get it to snap to my imported mesh tool.

I've got "Curve" on in the "Stroke" menu, with "Bend" and "Snap" enabled.

But it still doesn't seem to reliably snap to my imported mesh tool.

Am I missing a simple step?

My other issue is, if using the Semi-Open Zipper variant, how do I apply the Semi-Open Zipper Bottom part, then release that from edit and add the Top-Left and Top-Right parts?

Many thanks for any help or advice you can offer...

When useing mesh insert brush in order to view/Select the other brushes in the set you need to hold down the M key when you hover over the Brush icon...

When you want to make multiple inserts after you have one where you want you click on the Base mesh anywhere to be able to start inserting a new Triple insert mesh...

To make the Insert snap closer there is a setting for depth somewhere either in the Stroke Menu or the Brush menu Not at my 3D computer right now...

Hope this helps...

Cool - many thanks foleypro.

I had managed to figure out the M shortcut key and the Base Mesh selection, in fact, since posting this question.

But not that depth setting... or what else in the Stroke menu might affect it... I'll take another look based on your suggestion ;-)
