How did you get started in 3D Graphics? Well, I
stumbled upon Renderosity in the late spring of 2001, and I was
hooked! I was amazed at the work displayed by the members! Id been
doing 2D art (mostly pencil drawings), since an early teen, and 3D
seemed to be the next level of evolution. How long have you
been working with 3D Graphics? Well, not as long as you
might think. I started with Poser 4 in the early Summer of 2001.
Do you have any formal training? Aside from the great
help Ive received from the Renderosity community, no. What
software do you use to develop your products? I use Rhino
3D exclusively for modeling. Its got a great interface, and easy
to use tools. I do texturing in Photoshop, but I also use Paint
Shop Pro for some of the pattern tools. Of course I use Poser 4 and
Pro Pack! I also found Kattmans P-Wizard to be immensely helpful
in developing clothing. How much time is required for product
development? It depends on the complexity of the product,
but all in all Id say about a month or so from development, to
testing, to the Marketplace. Do you have any advice on how to
get started selling 3D Products? Dont be afraid to ask for
help! I still dont consider myself anywhere near a master, so I
frequently ask for help when Im stuck with a problem. Also, I
think its important that you start with a small project to get
your feet wet in the Marketplace, then as your skills grow, take on
the tougher stuff. I think some people want to make The Best and
Most Epic Vicky Armored Sci-Fi Fantasy Suit Ever Made! before they
have the skills to do so. Start small. Where does your
inspiration come from when developing new products? Oh boy,
all over the place! Well, for my Bondage Gear, Ive drawn from
experience, as Ive made some of those items in real life! But on
the whole I am inspired by the works of such masters as Luis Royo,
Boris, Sorayama, & Brom, as well as the photographers Steven Diet
Goedde, Trevor Watson, and Nicholas Sinclair to name a few.
How has Renderosity's on-line community played a role in
regards to your products, friendships and learning? The
community has played an IMMENSE role in my development as a 3D
artist! Without the support of such luminaries as Syyd, Xurge,
Wyrmmaster, the 3Dwizard, Blackhearted, Jim Burton, and Dark
Whisper (to name a few) I never would have gotten my first stuff
off the ground! Nearly everyone Ive dealt with has been kind and
giving in their knowledge and assistance. Ive also made some great
friends! Do you have any final words? You must have
run into this before, but you know, its difficult trying to
explain to friends and family exactly what I do on the computer all
day! Modeling, uh, whats that? Not to say that its not fun, (I
wouldnt be doing it otherwise), but theres a lot of work
involved! Its a great help to have a community like Renderosity to
have people with similar interests to talk with where you dont
have to explain what a polygon is! Thank you to everyone who has
supported me and taken the time to say Nice work! There are few
things in life more rewarding.
